Jamie Chen 2025 Solo Exhibition|The Pause

"Time paused in that moment—only then did I truly see: Taiwan in color."

Jamie Chen (陳樂熙), an 11th-grade student from Taipei Fuhsing Private School, presents The Pause—a solo exhibition that embodies contemplation and dialogue through his refined techniques in watercolor, oil painting, and graphic design.

Jointly curated and spatially designed by the Taiwan Youth Exhibition team, this exhibition not only showcases Jamie’s technical prowess but also serves as a projection of generational perception. Through a distinctive lens, Jamie bridges personal vision with the collective emotional experience of Taiwanese youth.

Exhibition Theme|The Moment Time Stands Still

The Pause explores a fictional moment—what might we see if time were to freeze? A fleeting street corner, a familiar hue? Guided by color, Jamie paints the Taiwan of his memory and imagination.

In a thoughtful twist, he applies the concept of color swatches to identify what he calls his "Taiwan Palette":

  • Taiwan Beer Green|The chill of a summer memory

  • MRT Seat Blue|The stillness of everyday commutes

  • Banquet Red|The warmth of communal celebration

  • Lantern Orange|The glow of festive tradition

  • Ubike Yellow|The energy of city freedom

  • Market Bag Blue|Where tradition meets the modern day

Interactive Installation|What Color is Taiwan to You?

The exhibition culminates in a large-scale interactive installation, inviting visitors to select and place a sticker of the swatch that best represents their own image of Taiwan. In doing so, every participant becomes part of this evolving dialogue in color.
